Man made mineral fibers (MMMF) in Kitchen Ovens

Fiberglass Awareness

The metal side of an oven with white ceramic fiber wool hanging out and white dust laying at the bottom that broke off and fell from the ceramic fiber wool.

Ceramic fiber wool is a silica-based man made mineral fiber (MMMF), which is very similar to fiberglass, shown here in a 5 year old oven. Notice the white dust laying at the bottom of the oven next to the broiler pan. I think we ate these fibers for dinner.

As I was bent down taking these pictures my lungs tightened with a dull ache and my eyes began to burn.

When we cook with the oven the air quality in the house gets bad. The oven is only 5 years old.
